We hope you join us in the DCSC, Thursday August 31th, for Ali Dineen and Hannah Sassoon presenting original music as well as selections from U.S. folk traditions, including ballads, rags, blues and a shadow puppet cranky.
Ali Dineen is a singer, multi-instrumentalist and visual artist based in Brooklyn, NY. She performs original acoustic folk music, as well as songs from U.S. folk traditions, and incorporates historical and sociopolitical commentary into her shows. Her music is personal and also political, and explores the intersections of personal stories with larger histories. Hannah Sassoon collects old tunes and ballads and plays fiddle, cello, and guitar. Ali and Hannah have been collaborating for several years. Together, they perform original music, ballads, rags, blues and folk songs. They will be featuring songs from Ali's new album Light Comes In , as well as 1930s Texas string band music, Hoagy Carmichael and Ma Rainey songs, and more.
