Director of Dining & Catering

We are seeking an experienced hospitality professional to lead our food and beverage team in the restaurant and for catering events.

Job Description Summary: Oversee all service and administrative activities related to the Race Brook Lodge and Stagecoach Tavern regular dining service, group business and other food service activities, including our bar and beverage program. Coordinate service staff and logistical needs on “the floor”. Ensure a smooth execution of daily operation of the dining rooms at The Stagecoach Tavern. Oversee aesthetics of the dining areas and logistical operation of service to maximize customer satisfaction and profitability. Applicants must have bartending experience and be knowledgeable about wines, beers, spirits and non alcoholic beverages. The desire to work as part of a team, and knowledge of restaurant POS systems, spreadsheets and other web-based platforms such as online reservations software are also important. Applicants must be willing to work long hours at times, lift coolers, cases of beverages and other heavy objects, while also treating all customers and other staff respectfully.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee and front-of-house staff, both for regular dining and catering events

  • Coordinate and supervise the implementation of food & beverage policies, standards and guidelines

  • Manage guest reservations and communicate with guests in a proactive and professional manner

  • Ensure smooth operation of food and beverage service and complete daily and weekly checklists

  • Keep supplies stocked, make purchases as-needed in coordination with Chef and other staff

  • Communicate & coordinate regularly with the Chef on all restaurant and service related matters

  • Oversee general aesthetic presentation of dining areas on a daily basis

  • Manage beverage program, order supplies as needed

  • Cultivate relationships with vendors and other partners

  • Design and print menus

  • Manage beverage inventory and complete monthly inventory analysis

Qualifications

  • Experience in bartending and knowledge of wines, spirits, coffee, tea & other non-alcoholic drinks

  • Interest in learning and sharing knowledge

  • Desire to work as part of a team, and a willingness to be challenged

  • Organizational & time-management skills
