Wow. Alsarah & The Nubatones brought the house down in epic fashion on Saturday June 16th! It was an Eid-al-Fitr event to remember in the Barnspace at Race Brook Lodge. Alsarah is a singer from Sudan and Brooklyn NY who gracefully distills atemporal melodies over heady beats, at the crossroads of East-African and Arabic influences. Alsarah & The Nubatones were born out of many dinner conversations between alsarah and rami el aasser about nubian 'songs of return', modern migration patterns and the cultural exchanges between sudan and egypt.
