We will be celebrating the Muslim Holiday of Eid-al-Adha, also known as Bakrid Eid, with a sublime musical program featuring Middle-eastern and Turkish inspired music.
The Race Brook Eid Ensemble features Rami el Aasser on percussion, multi-instrumentalist Zafer Tawil, Brandon Terzic on Oud, Rufus Cappadocia on Cello, Matt Kilmer percussion, and other special guests.

Race Brook Lodge is a hidden gem in The Berkshires, at the foot of Mt. Race and a short hike from the Appalachian trail. The yoga & event barn at Race Brook is simultaneously rustic and sublime, steeped in hundreds of years of New England history. Rami El Aasser plays both Arabic and Turkish style on the tabla and other drums in the percussion family. The darbuka, aka doumbek or Arabic tabla, is a chalice drum. It holds an ocean of sounds. Zafer Tawil is an accomplished Palestinian musician whose areas of expertise include the oud, violin, qanun, and Arab percussion. Zafer performs across the US and in the Middle East and holds workshops in oud technique and Arabic music theory. He was part of the Spirit of Fez U.S. Tour 2006 and has performed with some of the most celebrated world music artists, including violinist and oud master Simon Shaheen and Rai singer Cheb Mami. Zafer is continuously exploring the boundaries of Arab music, and has worked collaboratively on many concerts involving classical Indian and Persian music, as well as Jazz fusion.
Brandon Terzic is a Multi-instrumentalist who has covered a large musical terrain both as a sideman and as a leader. Born in Ohio, Terzic took to the guitar early, absorbing the blues repertoire and then studying Jazz with some of NYC’s finest guitarists including David “Fuze” Fiuczynski, Mordy Ferber, and Lionel Loueke. After trips to the Middle East and North Africa, his focus shifted towards the modalities and rhythms of Arabic Oud and the Malian Ngoni. His studies with the Griot musicians of Senegal and the Gnawa of Morocco inspired a flexible and unique approach on instruments that are firmly entrenched in tradition.
Matt Kilmer has been the recipient of numerous awards and honors including being named a Carnegie Hall Weill Music Institute fellow. He has produced albums for many contemporary artists and is an in-demand session drummer and percussionist as well as a highly sought after live musician for touring acts such as Grammy award winning artist Lauryn Hill and master Arabic oudist and violinist Simon Shaheen. He has produced and collaborated with artists as diverse as Louis CK, Reggie Watts, Jon Brion, and Krishna Das.
Rufus Cappadocia is a Canadian-American cellist best known for his cross-cultural recordings and performances. He has released albums in collaboration with guitarist David Fiuczynski, singer Bethany Yarrow, Stellamara with Sonja Drakulich, multi-instrumentalist Ross Daly and The Paradox Trio with Matt Dariau.
