CHEF LAUREL BARKAN
We are so excited to have Chef Laurel Barkan on the team, starting in August 2017. Laurel is originally from San Francisco, where she learned the art of cooking working under acclaimed chefs such as Judy Rodgers at Zuni Café. She has spent the last decade in Mexico cooking for restaurants, retreat centers, and private families.
Laurel is passionate about local, sustainably-produced ingredients and slow food. She draws inspiration from a variety of world cuisines and uses whatever is fresh and in season to make real food -- from scratch.
"I’m looking forward to cultivating relationships with local farms in order to source our menu. I feel very lucky to be somewhere where there are so many dedicated farmers producing such high quality produce, meat, and dairy that I hardly have to look beyond a 20 mile radius to find most of the ingredients that I need.
Coming from coastal California and later Mexico, I’m also excited about working with the seasons. I’m looking forward to playing around with summer and fall flavors. I’m even excited about preparing for winter through canning and preserving: I think it’ll be a real push to be more creative!
My vision is to take the local bounty that we have here in the Berkshires and combine it with creative and international flavors. When starting with such fantastic raw material, there’s really no limit to where the creative juices might take you. " ~ Chef Laurel Barkan
We are part of a vibrant community of farmers and purveyors. We work hard to celebrate and honor their ingredients.
Our menu is seasonal and local - sourced from area farmers and inspired by the tradition of hearty tavern fare. It is a meeting of local ingredients with creative, international flavors. Inventive vegetarian and gluten free options are always available.

In addition, we have an all-season, screened porch. The 30 x 30 foot space can accommodate casual summer cocktail parties, buffets, rehearsal dinners, and any number of other occasions. This dynamic space can be transformed to create a variety of ambiances: breezy on a summer evening or warm with a roaring fire and candlelight well into the winter.
