JUNE 22-24: WEEKEND YOGA GETAWAY WITH ADITI SHAH
This mini weekend retreat is designed to get you into the fresh mountain air and thick trees of the Berkshires, just a few hours from NYC. Expect daily yoga + meditation, cozy accommodations, delicious seasonal meals, and nature at your fingertips. The retreat will be led by the amazing Aditi Shah, at Race Brook Lodge, an unforgettable rustic resort destination only 2.5 hours from NYC.
Aditi Shah is a co-creator of Mindful Morning, a pop-up meditation event in NYC, director of 200 hour TT and a mentor at Yoga Vida and a lead volunteer for Exhale to Inhale and Yoga Gives Back. Along with her classes, she is excited to be a speaker and advocate for meditation and mindfulness, as well as a contributor to MindBodyGreen, Well+Good, Parsley Health and Aloha.
A NOTE FROM ADITI:
I grew up a tree climber, barefoot in my backyard with wild hair, trying not to dirty the frocks in which my mother would dress me. I am not a sit still kind of person; I love to move and I love yoga. But yoga is more than a form of movement.
My mission as a yoga and meditation teacher is to show others that a practice is more than making space in your body; it is making space in your mind. One of the things that gives me great joy is cultivating community around this sort of mindfulness. Through gatherings like Mindful Morning, corporate and public events, the classes and trainings I teach in NYC, my goal is to create an experience that is deeper than something physical. After all, yoga is an energetic practice, an experience that threads together the inner and outer selves.
My personal practice is somewhat traditional, and definitely disciplined. Within that structure, there is an inner lightness that leads to creativity, playfulness and cultivates honest self-discovery. At the heart of my practice is the same feeling. I teach a flowing vinyasa class threaded with alignment and structure, and I love to explore playful ways to experience the practice. Similarly, meditation, serves as a way to sit quietly and experience our inner landscape, to shed the layers we build up out in the Real World, and bring us back to our authentic selves. EXPLORE RACE BROOK LODGE:
Our rooms are carved out of a 19th century barns and a Federal style mansion, with other cottages and cabins. Continental breakfast is included. Hiking trails start right here on the property and extend up to the Race Brook Falls, Mount Everett, Mount Race and beyond. You can continue on the Appalachian Trail... all the way to Georgia, or north to Maine!
The Race Brook is a soothing presence, babbling right through the center of our property. Enjoy the sound of the brook from a hammock in the shade or spread out a blanket for a picnic on the lawn. Also enjoy volleyball and lawn games. In the summer, sometimes the brook dries up temporarily, allowing for adventures and scavenger hunts in the riverbed.
At The Stagecoach Tavern, visionary chef Laurel Barkan uses local ingredients whenever possible to create original interpretations of both traditional and exotic dishes. The Stagecoach is best known for it’s atmosphere, as diners revel in history of the centuries-old candlelit tavern.
Our rooms come in all different sizes and shapes, with romantic hideaways and spacious king beds or cabin-style accommodations with multiple beds. Call us to help choose the room that’s just right for you.
Keep an eye on our event calendar to find out about live music, workshops, and other inspiring events in the Barnspace or Down County Social Club (DCSC).
We have great spaces for groups! Our Barnspace is rustic and sophisticated and infinitely versatile. It’s great for weddings, corporate meetings, yoga retreats, and dance parties!
We love pets! Over half of our rooms are dog-friendly. Dogs love the great hiking right on the property, diving in the brook and frolicking with guests, staff and other dogs!
The Race Mountain House is an epic four-bedroom villa up on the slope of Mt Race, overlooking the Southern Berkshire valley!
