Galen Passen, sitarist and composer, has devoted himself to the study of hindustani music for the past decade, training intensively in New Delhi for much of that time. He now resides in New York City, continuing his training with Abhik Mujherjee. His compositional work reflects his investment in global hybridity, experimentalism, and social practice. He is the creator and leader of Folk Song, an emergent ensemble creating new music based on the traditions of hindustani and Irish traditional music.
Charlie Tokarz is a multi-talented horn player and one of the only musicians who plays two saxes at the same time with multi-layered electric effects. He has performed with jazz masters Pharoah Sanders, Rahsaan Roland Kirk, and Larry Coryell. He has appeared at the White House, Today Show, 92nd Street Y, MASS MOCA, and Merce Cunningham Studios.
Rich Syracuse has been a mainstay on the New York area scene for more than three decades. While performing at an early age in New York City he was the winner of the prestigious Congress Of Strings Award. He went on to receive a Bachelor of Music degree from Manhattan School of Music in New York City. Rich has performed with Mose Allison, Kurt Elling, Dave Liebman, Brubeck Brothers, Warren Bernhardt, SumiTonoka, David Torn, Mike DeMicco, Peter Levin, Sam Morrison, Bernard Purdy, Vic Juris, Dave Stryker, Chuck Lamb, Jeff "Siege" Siegel, Dena DeRose, John Medeski, Michael Musilliami and Ali Demogli, Rich had been the bassist for Jazz pianist Lee Shaw for over 25 years until her passing.
Tim Ward studied with the great percussionist Randy Kaye. He’s a Berklee Grad, lived, and played,and recorded in New Orleans,for 7 years. He worked with Charles Neville , famed New Orleans sax player Kidd Jordan and rapper Lil Wayne.
