Arone Dyer: arone x s t a r g a z e

  • Race Brook Lodge Race Brook Lodge Sheffield United States (map)

Arone Dyer does a lot of things that don’t fit in tidy boxes - above all she is a celebrated experimentalist of the highest order. She produces sound as a vocalist, musician, composer & is a founding member of the uncategorical duo Buke and Gase whose album "Riposte" was included in NPR Music's "20 Favorite Albums of 2010" and whose live performances, such as the Tiny Desk Concert have been widely praised. Buke and Gase have collaborated with artists like Aaron Dessner of The National and Laurie Anderson. Arone is is also the engine behind the hyper-pop duo Mistresses, as well as the producer of roving, ever-evolving, non-static Dronechoir. Oh yeah , and also voiceover work. Aaaand she teaches kids how to fix bicycles. and has a landscaping side-hustle. and probably others.

This performance is a paired-down recontemplation of the classical-tinged music from her most recent solo album, arone x s t a r g a z e, with multi-instrumentalist Matthew Schrieber (Hinterlands).

Opening for Arone will be Liam Singer. Liam Singer is a multi-instrumentalist who's body of work reflects a lifetime of musical obsessions, ranging from minimalism and chance composition to 80's pop and confessional songwriting.

Liam Singer is a multi-instrumentalist who's body of work reflects a lifetime of musical obsessions, ranging from minimalism and chance composition to 80's pop and confessional songwriting. He has studied the Piano and Harpsichord, and is a self-taught Accordionist and Thereminist. Beyond his solo work, Liam has played keyboards live or in the studio with Slow Six, The Balustrade Ensemble, Alexander Turnquist, Sontag Shogun, and - most recently - “Simon’s Dream,” a Penguin Cafe Orchestra tribute project featuring original members Annie Whitehead and Jennifer Maidman. Liam lives in Catskill, NY where he and his wife Laura run the cafe/gallery “HiLo” and music venue/Korean restaurant “The Avalon Lounge.” The Ocean was his sixth studio recording. Once he recoups production costs, Liam will donate all profits from sales of this album to a collection of nonprofits focused on ocean preservation.
