On Wednesday, March 6th, Campfire & Creative Kids Club is hosting Flying Cloud Institute who will be leading STEAM workshops for children.
Parents can drop off their little ones anytime between 3-8pm and enjoy time at the Campfire, sit and get some work done, or take a late afternoon hike to the waterfall, or a have a relaxing dinner. Adults are also welcome to stay and participate in creative projects and hang out with the kids. Kid-friendly food options will be available and The Stagecoach Tavern restaurant is also open for adults to enjoy a quiet dinner nearby.
S•M•Art Workshop with Flying Cloud: Where Science Meets Art! (4-6pm)
Calling all young scientists, engineers, and artists to join us for an evening of exploration and creativity at Race Brook Lodge:
Explore the invisible world around us with microscopes and share your discoveries with beautiful watercolors
Design a wind turbine blade and test your prototype to see how much renewable electricity you can generate
What makes a robot a robot? Let's play with robots and learn what sensors, effectors, and processors can do!

6-8pm: Dinner and Creative Crafting at The Stagecoach Tavern Porch
REGISTRATION ENCOURAGED: Option to register online and pay in person upon arrival.
Community Participants
Sliding scale donation ($5-20) for younger kids or kids with their parents present who will not need child care.
Drop-off Creative Kids Club & Childcare prices:
$25 for each child per session or $40 for 2 kids (3+ years old / Good for 3-8pm)
$100 per child or $150 for 2 kids for the whole series (up to 8 sessions).
FLYING CLOUD INSTITUTE was founded in 1984 by Jane and Lawrence Burke with David Schwarz as a center for community education specializing in environmental education, energy and land conservation, and the arts. It now offers an array of programs in the arts and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) that serve over 2,000 youth and local educators annually.
Melanie Willins, M.Ed (aka “Melanie Poppins”) leads the Creative Kids Club programming at Race Brook Lodge. She is an educator who loves fostering children's curiosity and creativity through informal learning and exploration. Melanie has been working with kids for over 20 years and enjoys developing community connections for families in the Berkshires. As a Child Development Specialist, she supports families and schools through her business, Melanie Poppins Consulting and on Instagram.
