Talking Plants: An Evening with Michael Stuart Ani

  • Race Brook Lodge Race Brook Lodge Sheffield United States (map)

When Talking Plants Speak

Is it possible to have a true vision without taking a chemical, entheogenic sacrament or enduring extreme conditions? The answer is yes, if your guide is the legendary Amazon jungle scout and one of the very last explorers on earth to have actually participated in rituals with previously uncontacted tribes, Michael Stuart Ani.

Legendary explorer and storyteller Michael Stuart Ani shares stories of his life with the last uncontacted tribes of the Amazon. He will unveil secrets of the Talking Plants and describe their rituals. In this multimedia experience you will follow the lost steps of the Ghost Dance, America’s first ritual, to learn about what may be the hidden key to human survival: re-weaving the thread of our communication with nature through Talking Plants. After the talk there will be an audience Q&A and Michael will be signing copies of his book "The Ghost Dance: An Untold History of the Americas"

"For the last 53 years Ani has searched through the most remote regions of the Americas for the lost steps of the Ghost Dance.

These steps led Michael to the Sierra Mazateca of Oaxaca, famous for its sacred mushrooms. From the 1960s through 1970s, Ani lived in the Mazateca’s most remote cloud forests in Mexico and then in the 80's and 90's worked with the Yanomami tribes, the last uncontacted, wild and free tribes of the Americas. He became the only outsider who was ever allowed to collect the sacred mushroom species of the region, Desheto.

The wisdom Michael Stuart Ani obtained along his journey was used to fight epidemics among the uncontacted tribes of the Americas that still survive to this day. Ani also learned that these people’s ritual knowledge and entheogen plant sacraments (Talking Plants) may be key to repairing the broken bridge of communication between humans and nature and be essential to our species survival.

Michael Ani is one of the very few people alive today who’s been given presidential permission to live among uncontacted Amazon tribes. He earned this honor by using both traditional and modern methods to fight epidemics among the tribes for 14 years. He is a 30 year inductee of the Explorers Club, a recognized authority on pre Columbian ritual with an expertise in ethnobotany and Talking Plants.

Michael Stuart Ani has spent the last fifty-five years among tribes throughout the Americas and deep into the Amazon. Michael was instrumental in fighting a 14 year epidemic among the Yanomami in the rainforests of Venezuela.
