Race Brook Lodge truly is a Hiker's heaven... with comfortable and rustic accommodations, great ammenities on-site, including an exquisite farm-to-table restaurant, The Stagecoach Tavern, and direct access to a network of trails to Race Brook Falls, the Appalachian Trail, Mt Race, Mt Everett, Gilder Pond and beyond! 

Race Brook is a rustic eclectic lodge in a serene bucolic landscape, nestled at the foot of the Taconic Range in Sheffield, Massachusetts and around the corner from many cultural and natural attractions in the Berkshires. Meandering footpaths connect the restored lodge, barns and cottages, all converted into cozy, comfortable accommodations and dynamic event spaces.

Race Brook’s rich history is reflected in the architecture of the buildings, with wide plank floors, exposed wood beams, and quirky nooks and crannies adding rustic character. No two rooms are alike; all are thoughtfully appointed and WiFi accessible. Enjoy our hearty, homemade breakfast, and stay for dinner at the on-site Stagecoach Tavern.

The Main Lodge
The Main Lodge

Our rooms are carved out of a 19th century barns and a Federal style mansion, with other cottages and cabins. Continental breakfast is included. Hiking trails start right here on the property and extend up to the Race Brook Falls, Mount Everett, Mount Race and beyond. You can continue on the Appalachian Trail... all the way to Georgia, or north to Maine!

The Race Brook is a soothing presence, babbling right through the center of our property. Enjoy the sound of the brook from a hammock in the shade or spread out a blanket for a picnic on the lawn. Also enjoy volleyball and lawn games. In the summer, sometimes the brook dries up temporarily, allowing for adventures and scavenger hunts in the riverbed.

The Stagecoach Tavern

At The Stagecoach Tavern, visionary chef Laurel Barkan uses local ingredients whenever possible to create original interpretations of both traditional and exotic dishes. The Stagecoach is best known for it’s atmosphere, as diners revel in history of the centuries-old candlelit tavern.
