Embodying The Dao ~ Internal Cultivation Workshops with Christopher Kiely
* These are traditional practices which means there is no talking or teaching. Previous experience is not necessary, but students must be willing to follow along in the classical manner of learning.
The “dao” is an ever elusive philosophical concept from old China that attempts to characterize the “way of nature” in simple terms. It has spawned countless practices anddisciplines throughout the Far East over the ages and findsits expression most vividly in the realms of art, health and spirituality. It is one of the truly great wisdom traditions of the world and yet is still widely misunderstood in the West. These classes are designed both as an introduction to the study of the Dao and an opportunity to explore deeper the connections and implications within oneself that said study might allow.
The morning Qigong Class will detail fundamental techniques of physical practice and meditation. While the afternoon Theory Class will begin to describe the body as seen through the lens of the dao and unpack some of the lore and language associated with the classical texts of the tradition such as the Dao De Jing, the Yi Jing, the Art of War and so on.
No experience is necessary.
