A May Day Dance Party with Undertow Brass Band
An ecstatic May Day blowout of brass, poetry, ritual, and revelry
Join us at Race Brook Lodge for a wild, full-bodied celebration of the turning season—a fever dream of flowers, drums, and May madness.
Featuring:
Undertow Brass Band – formerly What Cheer? Brigade – unleashing their signature storm of anarchic joy, riotous brass, and dancefloor mayhem.
A poetry invocation to stir the spirit and call forth the bloom.
A ceremonial procession through the woods and into the mythic.
Ritual dances, ecstatic and unruly.
The anointing of May dew on the faces of the willing.
A Costume Contest for the Queen of the May – open to all genders and all glorious forms.
Dress to dethrone the winter and awaken the green.
The crowned May Queen will lead us into the rite of full emergence.
This is no quaint garden party.
This is Floralia: a springtime uprising.
A gathering of the weird and wondrous.
A sweaty, flower-drenched ceremony to shake off the cold,
wake the sleeping earth,
and awaken the May herself.
