“Music is the heartbeat of iration—it carries the message of love, truth, and upliftment. When I’nI play, it’s not just for entertainment, it’s for elevation. Root Fiyah a come to chant down Babylon with word, sound and power.”

Abdul Baki, lead vocalist and bandleader of Root Fiyah

Race Brook Lodge is proud to present Root Fiyah featuring Abdul Baki, delivering an unforgettable set of original Jamaican Rock Steady style Reggae. Audiences can expect a full-hearted experience rooted in rhythm, history, and spirit.

Abdul Baki, composer, multi-instrumentalist, and educator, opens the show with a simple invitation: “Let’s have a heart to heart.” And he means it. Baki’s music doesn’t just entertain—it connects. Every note is anchored in what he calls the “heartbeat,” a concept central to his Rastafarian belief that rhythm is the mother of music.

Baki’s reggae lineage includes founding the legendary I-Tones, and performing for years as a core member of Zion Initiation. With Zion, he toured and played keys alongside reggae icons like Culture, The Itals, and Max Romeo. A formative moment came during a reasoning with Bob Marley at Tuff Gong Studio, where Bob shared how he preserved the Nyabinghi spirit in his recordings—even when drums were absent.

Now, backed by some of New England’s top reggae musicians, Baki leads a powerhouse roots reggae band.
