DCSC: Winter Bluegrass Jubilee

  • Down County Social Club Race Brook Lodge Sheffield United States (map)

February 8th brings a very special Winter Bluegrass Jubilee to South Undermountain road! For one frosty Saturday Race Brook Lodge will  transform into a toasty pickin party hosted by the Catskill Mountain String Band. Bring your four strings and five strings and six strings and eight strings! A set of music followed an extended jam session in multiple spaces throughout our rustic Tavern environs.

Catskill Mountain String Band formed in 2020 when a few old friends decided to get together once a week and play bluegrass and fiddle music for fun. Their music is most influenced by the early sounds of bluegrass with a good bit of old time fiddle music and little country feel to round it out. Their motto is “Good Friends, Great Music!” and that’s how their shows feel, a gathering of friends for a night of fun and music.

ARTIST BIOS

Bruno Bruzzese plays fiddle and banjo with a love for the early sounds of Bluegrass music. His musical journey has taken him through many styles of music and travels around the USA, Europe, Canada and Mexico.

Andy Bing first performed with a rock band in college and in the years since has played bluegrass, old time, and folk music on mandolin, dobro, and banjo in bands throughout the northeast.

Brandon picked up a guitar 30 years ago, writing his first lyrics as soon as he learned two chords. He performed and recorded original songs with a folk-rock band, until being bitten by the bluegrass bug. Now he enjoys the melodies and community that accompany traditional music.

Geoffrey Harden plays bass, fiddle, and guitar and has performed and recorded with many acclaimed bluegrass and old time bands who play fast and sing high. He and Sarah Harden host a popular old time music festival and a long running series of string band sessions in Woodstock.

Mark Patton has played music in several different genres since 1965, playing every imaginable iteration of acoustic and electric, 6 and 12 string guitar, banjo, mandolin and anything with strings. He has accompanied Bill Keith and played with mandolin great Frank Wakefield and other American music icons at Folk and Bluegrass festivals all over the USA. His talents also include old-time blues, 60’s music, British folk and hillbilly ballads.
